The Clean Team Is Looking to Add To Its Team!

We are currently looking for the right candidate to fill a full time position to assist with our company's daily operations. The ideal person will prepare area rugs for cleaning in our rug cleaning facility, assist a lead technician on jobs with carpet cleaning, upholstery cleaning, tile & grout cleaning and all of our other services. The ideal person will assist another technician in providing pick up and deliveries of area rugs on Fridays. Must be able to consistently lift, stand, turn and walk while carrying 50+ lbs.

Days needed are Mondays - Thursdays, with the hours 8:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Approx. and Fridays 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. approx. Occasional week nights (till approx. 7) and occasional Saturdays. No experience needed, we have an extensive training program.

The right candidate will be trained as a lead technician in providing carpet, upholstery, drapery, wood floor, tile & grout cleaning in our client's homes.

We are looking for someone that is, to name a few...Dependable, Trustworthy, Able to perform physical activity including lifting heavy objects everyday, sometimes 50+ lbs, Energetic, Wants to Work, Willing to provide our clients with exceptional customer service, Self-motivated, Able to Work Independently, Is Responsible & Efficient with Attention to Detail, Positive Attitude, Clean Professional Appearance, Speaks Fluent English, Wants to be part of a team.

We do extensive background checks & drug testing. Must have a very clean driving record and have had your driver's license for at least 6 years.

We always look forward to this time of year – especially when we drop off all the donations to the always grateful organizations. This year we are collecting for The Plymouth Area Coalition located in Kingston. They operate a Food Pantry, a Children’s Holiday Fund, a F.A.I.R Program and a Shelter. Their goal is to empower; through education and professional guidance, and ultimately provide their clients with the tools and confidence to become self-sufficient, productive members of society. Their programs are developed to meet this goal, and are continually reviewed to ensure they meet the changing needs of society and their clients. Help us support two local charities during this season of giving.

We always look forward to this time of year – especially when we drop off all the donations to the always grateful organizations. Thank you in advance for your continued support. This year we are helping 2 local charities.

Plymouth Family Resource Center : located in Plymouth. They provide many different services for families and children. Their website is plymouthfamilyrc.org. They are collecting toys for local families who could not otherwise afford gifts for their children. Items needed by Dec. 8th.

They are collecting toys for kids 0-17: Legos, fidget toys, little people, video games, Hot Wheels, board games, Nerf guns, LOL dolls, Baby Alive, Styling Heads, Blume Dolls, Gift Cards, Paw Patrol Toys, Science Kits, Arts and Crafts, Baby dolls and Monster Trucks. All these items should be new and unwrapped.

Rug Storage Tips

As a disclaimer - We are NOT pest control specialists. We are RUG specialists.

RUG STORAGE TIPS:

If you are placing a rug into storage, here are the preparation guidelines for proper care of the textiles if they are natural fiber (wool, silk, cotton).

1) Wash the rug thoroughly.

Washing not only removes potential bug hitchhikers in the rug fibers, but it removes all of the soil and contaminants from the foundation fibers of the rug as well. Compacted, ground in soil in a rug over time can dry out cotton foundation warps and wefts in a rug and lead to dry rot.

A proper rug washing facility, such as ours, will also have "insect repellents" that can be used as a final application on the rug, front and back, that will leave the rug "not tasty" to bugs so they will go elsewhere.

2) Roll and wrap in Tyvek paper.

Folding rugs is something you will see done in many rug galleries in order to conserve space, but can cause undue stress on the foundation fibers of rugs over time. (You can lessen this stress by folding the rugs with the fuzzy pile OUTWARD which allows the foundation fibers to bend less, but it also gets the rugs dusty easier)

Ideally rugs should be completely cleaned, insect repelled, and then rolled for long term storage. You roll the rug from the bottom end first to create a tight roll.

(To know which end is the bottom end, pet your rug and see which direction when you pet is going WITH the nap, and which is going AGAINST it. When you are petting WITH the grain it takes you to the bottom end. This is the end where the weaving began. Roll from this end.)

With silk rugs, or more fragile older wool rugs, you can roll the rug with the pile pointing outward to allow for less strain on the foundation. Also big shaggy rugs roll tighter with the long shaggy fibers pointing outward as well.

Wool and plastic should NEVER be combined in storage. Wool has a natural high moisture content (this is why it is flame resistant, it self-extinguishes with flame), so this means if wrapped in plastic and with no airflow, the fibers can "sweat" and create a problem in storage.

3) Elevate when storing. Don't stack heavy items on top of them.

Keeping rugs off the floor allows you to easily see if there are any potential problems with rodents more easily in a storage unit, and since storage facilities seems to often be built in low lying regions, if there are floods keeping the rugs elevated can keep them safer. Not stacking heavy items on top of them can keep strain from causing foundation damage to the rug.

4) Check the rug annually.

If possible, check your rugs in storage once a year to make sure the packaging is secure. If the rug was professionally cleaned, and the insect repellent applied, you can extend your check up of opening up the rug packaging, but it may need to be reapplied after 2 or 3 years.

If you have used Tyvek paper it can be unwrapped and the same paper reused because it is tear resistant. Clear packing tape works best with the Tyvek paper.

Tips To Prevent Unwanted "Guests" In Your Rugs!

Rugs should be regularly vacuumed to prevent dust and grit from working its way into the foundation of a rug. Weekly vacuuming is a must for rugs under consistent foot traffic. You do not need a heavy beater bar vacuum, you just want to "lift up" the settling dust that gets on the tips (the same dust that settled on your hard floors and needs to be swept up weekly). Just a quick "sweeping" of the tops of the fibers is all you need.

But quarterly, rug owners should be more invasive with their dusting, and with the upholstery attachment on their vacuum - or if they have a canister vacuum - pull back the corners of rugs and vacuum the floor underneath and the back of the rug corners.

Carpet beetles and moths like to settle around the edges of rugs, and usually will eat from the backside of the rug where it's dark and undisturbed.

A quarterly "dust and disturb" routine will keep them from finding the rug a nice place to sit. They want to place their eggs in a safe spot to have a meal as they grow. If you disturb them, they will move somewhere else.

Rugs under regular foot traffic should be washed every 18-24 months. If the foot traffic is heavy (or there are pets and kids on the rug a lot) then once a year is recommended. If the rug gets light or no traffic and is regularly vacuumed, then closer to 3 years is not unreasonable.

Rugs that are regularly washed rarely have bug problems, because nothing is more DISTURBING to bugs than having the rug rolled up and taken on a trip for a full service wash.

We always look forward to this time of year – especially when we drop off all the donations to the always grateful organizations. This year has been hard on all outreach organizations that rely on special events to raise money to continue their services.

This year we are collecting for 2 different local organizations. The first organization: The Nathan Hale Organization located in Plymouth & Middleboro. They provide all kinds of free veteran services to veterans and their families. Information about them can be found online at https://www.thenathanhaleveteransoutreachcenter.com . Some items they are in need of this season are:

Gently used Mens & Womens – Winter Gloves & Hats.
New socks are always needed too for Men & Women.

The second organization is the Careworks Ministry – Vineyard Resource Center located in Kingston. They are a food pantry that helps people in need from our community with food and gently used clothing. For more information on the food pantry you can call them at 781-585-6897. They are in need of:

Toothpaste. Shampoo, Toothbrushes

Kids snack items, Cookies, non-perishable foods

Gas cards are always good too.

Anyone who donates items will be entered into our raffle. The Clean Team will be raffling (2) $50.00 Disch’s Tavern Gift Certificates to two clients! They are offering dine-in and take out meals! They are located in Pembroke.

Our Covid-19 Response

First, thank you so much for your continued support of The Clean Team.

At The Clean Team, the safety and well-being of our clients and employees is always our top priority. We have added procedures to our daily operations to help keep everyone safe and healthy.

Our staff personally interacts with clients on a daily basis. This interaction is fundamental to our company’s mission in providing textile cleaning services to residential and commercial clients. Our company has a long-standing policy to consistently keep our equipment clean. In this rapidly changing environment, we have increased our diligence in keeping our equipment clean & disinfected.

We have communicated the importance of the following steps to our staff:

They will continue frequent hand washing and hand sanitizer use. This includes after being in public places, before entering a client’s home and upon exiting a client’s home.
After each use, we will disinfect all the equipment in our service vans & rug cleaning facility.
Daily disinfecting of surfaces at our office.
We are also asking our employees to stay home if they have symptoms not related to any preexisting conditions.
When greeting our clients, we have asked our employees to refrain from shaking hands. Please know we are happy to have you as part of our Clean Team family.

The time is here for Spring cleaning - we want to be sure we do our part to assure our clients that we can provide that service safely and effectively.

In regards to treating homes to prevent the COVID-19 Virus:

We have always offered carpet and hard surface disinfectant as an additional service, and our brand does kill certain strains of the Coronavirus. While we appreciate the extra business opportunity, we do not like to capitalize on fear. This is the reason that we have not been pushing the sale of carpet disinfectant. The product is wonderful for various reasons, but we will not claim that it will keep your family from contracting any illness. It might help, but will not prevent it.

Proper hygiene and constant cleaning of HARD surfaces will be your best defense against this virus as far as we know.

Whether the reports are over hyped, or accurate, I just wanted to take the time to explain this for all of our clients.

Regular textile cleaning is needed to improve indoor air quality and the overall healthiness of the home or office environment, and we will happily add a disinfectant at your request, but we will try to educate you so that you are making a purchase based on truth and facts, and not fear.

We Restore Shower Glass!

No matter what you use on your shower glass it looks terrible - we can help!!

Over the years, clients have asked us about removing soap scum and water stains from their shower glass doors, panels and surrounds. We have heard your requests and last year, we attended a two day training course to be able to offer this incredible service for our clients.

Becoming aware of the process and how glass is made and formed is just the beginning of the training we received. Over time, minerals can build up on the glass from the everyday water being left there to dry. When this happens you can no longer “clean” the glass with household products and elbow grease. What you are dealing with at this point is a mineral build up that needs to be removed with a polishing process.

The Clean Team uses soft brushes and diamond pads to remove the buildup. Quite often, this process will need to be repeated up to 3 and 4 times before we are done removing the residue & build up. When the cleaning is complete, we will apply a crystallizer to your glass leaving it spotless and smooth. Your glass will be beautiful again, much easier to maintain and no longer an eyesore.

Clients ask us … What are carpet protectors and what do they do?

It's not just for spills !

Most of the time when we think of applying carpet protectors we think of those accidental spills and being able to remove them. We think of the things that are obvious. We never think about the dry soil, the grit and the things that filter into our rugs all day with foot & paw traffic.

Did you know? When a nylon carpet fiber is new, it is transparent? Just like a piece of plastic, almost like fishing line. It is bright and shiny and light passes straight thru it. See the picture above - the very clear side of the plastic tube is a representation of a new carpet fiber.

Everything we bring in on our feet, carpets & area rugs trap it all, keeping it out of the air. This dry soil is then held in the foundation of the carpet constantly rubbing back and forth every time it is walked on. This grit scratches the fibers and leaves abrasion marks on the carpet fiber. When you walk in one consistent pattern in a room – this then creates a visible traffic lane. This area then appears different than the edges of the room as the edges have almost no foot traffic or abrasion of the fibers. So sometimes, people perceive this traffic lane as being dirty but indeed it is wear.

If you look at the above picture – imagine the plastic tube is a carpet fiber. The shiny end is a carpet fiber that hasn’t been walked on yet or gets very little foot traffic. The other end, all scratched and dull looking, is the visible traffic lane in your Family Room or Master Bedroom. They look very different resulting in a very different appearance. Applying carpet protector helps!

You can see that abrasion can do almost as much harm as a cup of coffee. So, the next time you have your carpet cleaned - have it protected too! DIY - Spill Removal Guide on our Homepage!

If you have a spill and want to try to clean it yourself, go to our homepage and click on the ‘Consumer Spill Guide’ link. Click on the item you are trying to remove and it will walk you through steps on how to treat that spill without damaging your item. Always test for colorfastness first!

Our Spot Out cleaner is another great cleaner to use! If you have run out of the bottle that will be left at your cleaning appointment, you can purchase our quart size at our office.

Pet Puddles? Mix 1 cup white vinegar with 2 cups cold water … sponge mixture lightly onto the affected area. Blot as much of the moisture out of the area as possible by using a white cloth or paper towel. Lay a dry towel on the area afterwards to allow any left over moisture to “wick” into the towel.
